Thad Wasson for U.S. House of Representatives
I'm Thad Wasson and I am running for the Republican nomination for U.S. House of Representatives in 2010. I believe our Nation is in serious trouble and this state needs a fresh approach. I am for less federal government and more individual freedoms. Please join me in the campaign to bring back America! What follows are some observations I have made about our lives in the United States and some current realities. They will lead to some legislative proposals.
Since 2001 we have spent over $640 billion in Iraq, $190 billion in Afghanistan, and $28 billion on enhanced security. Less than 1% of that amount goes for VA medical care for our returning troops.
America is planning on maintaining 55,000 troops in Iraq. (Imagine Korea, only drier.) In August of 2008, China signed an agreement with Iraq to have a 20 year lease on their oil. This is great for China, but this is not the purpose of our military.
Worried about your job? We need to resolve our trade issues through acts of Congress. We trade fine, so well that we imported $800 billion more in goods and services than we exported. America has borrowed $800 billion from China, $400 billion from Japan, and $150 billion from Russia. When the Nation has a loan from China for 800 billion and has a trade disparity of 300 billion with China, it is time to realize that the communist leaders are better businessmen than our elected leaders are. China replaced Canada as the country from which we import the most in 2008. China does work that we are too productive to be bothered with, such as manufacturing, food processing, and oil exploration.
43% percent of your paycheck goes to the federal government? (28% income tax, plus 15.4% payroll tax.) You might get some of it back thru a tax credit, but only if you do what is acceptable to the elected officials. This nation needs tax reform. We need to modernize our IRS by lowering the income tax rate and replacing it with a national sales tax. In 2010 Social Security will begin taking in less than it pays out? (The 2.3 trillion in reserves has been spent)
Non-violent drug offenses account for the majority of federal crimes.
We need to grow as a Nation and replenish our land. We need more immigrants from Mexico. They have to work, since our social programs are broke. We got to this point, in part, due to abortion on demand. (40 million Americans gone)
Open up discussion on Land Trusts for our Indian Nations. Give land back to the Sioux? (They might take better care than the National Forest Service.) The poverty rate on the Indian tribal lands is near 80%. I want a strong Sioux Nation, not one with high poverty rates and low life expectancy.
We as Americans are granted two things that we cannot forget - Freedom and Opportunity. We all need to ask less from the federal government and depend more on our families and our own personal abilities.
